EMJAY® MANIFOLD: 3 STATIONS

The Emjay® Manifold system is a strong, versatile and easy to use system for irrigation valves, made to the same high quality specifications as all Emjay® fittings. The more circuits you want to run, the more irrigation valves you will need.

The Emjay® Manifold system comes in a kit that allows for the installation of 3 stations. The unique clip-together system is so simple to use and install, with no tools required. It is also easily extendable by using the Emjay Manifold Extension kit to accommodate more stations. The irrigation manifold can be expanded to up to 20 stations.

It can be used in manual or automatic systems with either manual or electric solenoid valves.

Automatic: For use with 1” BSP electric solenoid valves for fully automatic watering.
Manual: Manual valves or tap timers with 1” BSP threads can be connected to each station

This robust and durable system, has been extensively stress tested with over 20 000 on/off cycles at 14 bar pressure.

The Emjay Manifold is completely designed and manufactured in South Africa to suit our conditions.

The Emjay Irrigation Manifold 3-station kit contains the following:

How Does it Work?

Emjay® Manifold Fittings are assembled by simply inserting the coupling between two fittings, pressing the fittings together and sliding the locking clips over the ends. Each join requires two clips and a coupling, except the inlet and endcap which have built in couplings.

Emjay® Manifold Union Fittings have a special BSP / ACME Nipple for attaching electric valves. The BSP side is screwed tightly against the o’ring which seals against the edge of the valve. The ACME side is tightened against the manifold body which seals
against manifold body o’ring.

By using Crosses, Tees, Elbows, Endcaps and Inlets, numerous different configurations of valves are possible.

The Emjay® Manifold can be installed underground in a valve box, using the standard locking clips or it can be mounted on the wall using the specially designed wall mount clips. The Wall Mount Clips have pre-drilled mounting holes and are designed to keep the manifold far enough away from the wall to allow access to the nut to connect the valves while in place. It is, however, recommended that the manifold is first mounted onto a board or similar rigid material to ensure that it is mounted flat.

Should the valves need to be repaired or replaced, this can be done quickly and easily. Simply loosen the union nut and the valve can be removed without disturbing or disassembling the rest of the manifold.

If you need to disassemble the manifold (for example to add another station), this can be done by simply sliding the locking clips off and pulling the fittings apart.

Should only 2 stations be required, you can slide the clips off and remove one of the tees or an Emjay 1″” BSP Threaded End Cap can be used to close off one station until later.

It is recommended that all electrical and water connections are carried out by suitably qualified technicians.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Prepare mounting board and attach manifold using rust resistant screws. Attach board with manifold to wall.
  2. Remove inlet from manifold by sliding off clips. Attach water supply to inlet (use shut-off valve and backflow preventer inline). Re-connect inlet to manifold.
  3. Remove nipples from manifold and screw tightly into valces ensuring that they bottom-out against the o’ring. Make sure that the BSP side of the nipple is used for the valve.
  1. Measure and cut polypipe, to correct height for manifold, allowing space for the valve.
    5. Connect polypipe to valves using Full Flow Male Adaptor (sold separately)
  2. Connect valve/nipple assembly to manifold using union nut. Ensure that the o’rings are still in place and hand tighten.
  3. Connect solenoid valves to irrigation controller (sold separately) using the control wires.
  4. Flush all irrigation lines by leaving endcaps off and running water through tall stations to avoid clogging.
  5. Turn on, sit back and watch your garden grow.
  6. Should you need to run your hosepipe from the same water source, use Snap-on Shut off valve on one of the stations. For this, a 1’ x ¾ reducing socket is required.

Underground Option with Union Fittings

Wall Mounted Option with Male Fittings

Other fittings that are available but are not sold at Builders Warehouse:

THE MALE FITTINGS:
For direct attachment of female BSP threaded valves or fittings. The Male Manifold Fittings have an accurately tapered male BSP thread which can be screwed directly into the female threaded valve or female threaded fittings such as sockets or bushes. Thread tape should be used as the seal is made on the thread. The Male Tees and Crosspieces are symmetrical which allows for a half turn when tightening valves.

THE UNION FITTINGS:
With specially designed BSP/ACME nipple for attachment to female BSP threaded valves or fittings.
The Union Manifold Fittings have a nut and separate nipple in place of the male thread. This enables the user to remove a valve from the manifold by unscrewing the nipple and taking the valve out without disassembling the manifold itself. This is particularly useful in valve boxes or installations where space is tight. The Union fittings have o’rings on the sealing faces of the fittings and the nipple to ensure a leak-proof seal without stressing the female thread of the valve by over tightening. All Union Fittings are supplied complete with the specially designed Manifold Nipple. This nipple has a 1” Male BSP thread on the valve side and a 1” ACME thread on the manifold side. To ensure a leak-proof seal, only this nipple can be used with the Emjay Manifold Union Fittings.

THE EXTRA BITS:
To keep it all together Two Clips and a coupling are needed on each join except for the inlet and end cap which have built-in couplings. The end cap is ideal if the manifold is made up of crosses or tees and no elbow as it closes the end of the line.
